About
The mission of The Longleaf Alliance is to ensure a sustainable future for the longleaf pine ecosystem through partnerships, landowner assistance and science-based education and outreach. To accomplish the LLA mission, the Alliance works throughout the range of longleaf pine to emphasize the ecological, economic, social, and historic importance of this once vast ecosystem. Since its origin in 1995, The Longleaf Alliance has used education, outreach, research, direct involvement and hands-on-experience to develop and provide the best available information and support in an unbiased manner to landowners, resource managers, policy makers, educators, scientists and the public. The vision of The Longleaf Alliance is restoration, management and conservation of the longleaf ecosystem such that much of the South can once again claim and benefit from functional longleaf forests. Longleaf forests will support local economies, provide for outdoor recreation, encourage healthy lifestyles with a connection to nature, provide habitats for native wildlife and plants, serve as natural classrooms, support the legacy of stewardship that con be entrusted to future generations, supply public benefits such as clean water and clean air, and provide a link to our history and culture as Americans.
