About
Cayuga Centers serves children and families throughout New York State, southeast Florida, and Delaware, offering a variety of evidence-based programs, residential and foster care treatment, and services for persons with developmental disabilities. Cayuga Centers began as the Cayuga Asylum for Destitute Children in 1852, an orphanage for children who could not be dependent on their own families. The name was changed to Cayuga Home for Children in 1913. In 1954, the mission changed to focus on serving youth in the Family Court System, and the Board moved to adopt the then brand-new cottage model for residential treatment for youth. The agency, now Cayuga Centers, continues its Residential Treatment Center at the organization's headquarters in Auburn, NY. Treatment focuses changed during the 1990s, and Cayuga Centers was at the forefront of implementing treatment programs using evidence-based models that provided measurable and long-term successful outcomes. Beyond Residential Treatment, Cayuga Centers added Foster Care and Community-Based Interventions such as Functional Family Therapy and Multisystemic Therapy, and Services for People with Developmental Disabilities. Early in 2015 we received a contract to bring our successful Treatment Family Foster Care program to Palm Beach County, Florida, and in 2016, are replicating that program in the State of Delaware. The agency has earned national recognition for implementing evidence-based treatment programs that successfully address youth and family life issues.
