The mission of Schools That Can (STC) is to reimagine education through real-world learning that closes the opportunity and skills gap. We serve the largest cross-sector network of urban schools in the country, reaching over 175 district, charter, independent, and faith-based schools serving underresourced communities. Our programming is designed to support our network of schools in effectively preparing students from low-income backgrounds for college and career. We offer programming to empower school leaders to advance real-world learning and drive improvement, to develop teachers' skills to facilitate hands-on learning, and to directly engage students in these powerful learning experiences. Our theory of change posits that when we connect schools that serve similar demographics and face common challenges for the purpose of facilitating the strategic sharing of best practices, innovation will diffuse more rapidly, ultimately resulting in improved outcomes for students.
