The Ice Den Scottsdale, located in north Scottsdale, is a 150,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art ice skating and entertainment center and the official practice facility of the NHL's Arizona Coyotes Hockey club. Since opening in June 1998, the Ice Den has revolutionized the ice skating industry in Arizona and has quickly become a community gathering place for many valley residents. Its open-air design and triple NHL regulation surfaces (3) make it a facility uniquely capable of fulfilling the diverse sports and entertainment needs for many Arizona families and businesses. The Ice Den Scottsdale is a world-class ice facility, playing host to the Coyotes and visiting NHL teams for their practice needs. The Ice Den Chandler, acquired in January 2014, immediately underwent after a 4-month estimated $6 million renovation. Highlights of the renovation include two completely rebuilt NHL regulation-size ice surfaces to enhance the skating experience, as well as new flooring and lighting. In addition, guests now enjoy new amenities including a retail shop – Coyotes Ice Sports, enhanced spectator viewing areas, 18 Degrees Express Bar & Grill, and the Chilly Bean Café.
