We employ around 6,000 staff who deliver compassionate care from our two main hospitals, \r\nCalderdale Royal Hospital and Huddersfield Royal Infirmary as well as in community sites, health \r\ncentres and in patients’ homes.\r\n\r\nIn 2015 more than 123,300 men, women and children were cared for as inpatients (stayed at least \r\none night) or day cases and more than 438,300 people attended our outpatient clinics. Our A&E \r\ndepartments at both hospitals cared for more than 142,000 people. There were some 223,887 adult \r\nservices and 64,108 children service contacts by our community teams.\r\n\r\nWe are continuing to modernise and invest in our health services to build on our strong reputation. Foundation trusts are public leaders in improving quality in health services. They are part of the NHS – yet decisions about what they do and how they do it are driven by independent boards. Boards \r\nlisten to their Membership Council and respond to the needs of their members – patients, staff and \r\nthe local community.\r\n\r\nFoundation trusts provide what the health service wants, yet are also free to invest quickly in the \r\nchanges to the local community needs, in striving to be the best, and in putting their patients first.
