About
Crandall Independent School District (CISD) is a growing rural school district located 23 miles southeast of Dallas along Highway 175. It included 84.9 square miles and more than 2,000 students and over 250 employees. CISD is fully accredited (PK-12) by the Texas Education Agency and the Southern Association of Colleges and Universities. CISD recently celebrated "100 years of excellence." According to the deed of records which was filed on February 28, 1901, "Twenty resident citizens of the village of Crandall requested an election for the purpose of incorporating for free school purpose as provided by law." The election was held on March 9, 1901. The citizens also voted at the same time to "levy a tax of 0.25 cents on $100 to raise money so the district might float bonds to build a good school building." The building was completed in 1903 at a cost of $9,000. The school had departments and five teachers with an enrollment of about "225 scholars." Directions to CISD From Dallas, take Hwy. 175 Exit onto FM 148 (Crandall Exit). Go South (right) on FM 148. FM 148 makes a left turn at the 4-way stop sign at 4th Street. (4th Street and FM 148 are the same street.) Go two blocks, turn right onto W. Lewis Street (FM 3039). Go three blocks on W. Lewis St. to Crandall Middle School, Crandall Community Center, Administration Office, Football Stadium, and Wilson Elementary School. To go to the High School, continue on W. Lewis (FM 3039). Cross the creek and go to the top of the hill. The High School will be on the left. To go to the Martin Elementary School, exit FM 741 from Hwy. 175. School is on the service road. The Walker Elementary School is located in Heartland, at Interstate 20 and FM741.
