About
Kamehameha Schools (KS) is a private charitable trust endowed by the will of Princess Bernice Pauahi Bishop, the great-granddaughter and last direct descendant of King Kamehameha I. The trust's mission is to improve the capability and well-being of Hawaiians through education. KS achieves its mission by operating an educational system serving over 6,900 students at K-12 campuses on O‘ahu, Maui and Hawai‘i island, and at nearly 30 preschools statewide. The trust also serves over 40,000 additional learners annually through a range of community outreach programs. KS employs more than 2,300 full-time and part-time employees covering nine operational groups: Community Relations and Communications, Campus Education, Hawaiian Cultural Affairs, Endowment, Administration, Finance, Strategic Planning and Implementation, Human Resources and Legal Services. KS also hires approximately 2,000 temporary staff each year to assist with various seasonal programs such as our various athletic and intercession programs.
