About
The Denver Inner City Parish empowers communities, supports personal transformations, and creates self-sustaining lifestyles for those who are most vulnerable The word parish means “community” and the DICP is committed to community. We are a non-sectarian human services nonprofit. The Parish elevates community through its community programs. History Founded in 1960, the Denver Inner City Parish continues the legacy of religious charity. During the 1950’s churches in Denver began following their congregations to the suburbs; the “flight” of these churches created a gap in resources for those in need. Churches that had historically provided human services for communities were now gone, leaving many to fend for themselves in this significant gap. In response, a coalition of churches formed a network of nonprofit inner city parishes across the country The Denver Inner City Parish shines as a powerful example of what community with adequate support can achieve. Our Focus “The Parish is a community-based non-profit transforming the lives of vulnerable children and adults in the Denver metro area through programs that interrupt violence, disrupt poverty, and empower socio-economic progress.” Within these focus areas, we strive to combat poverty and its effects in ways that enable lasting, meaningful change.
