.N.Webber, Inc. is a North American transportation carrier and warehousing firm based in Kankakee Illinois, 60 miles south of Chicago. Founded in 1947 in the small town of Chebanse Illinois by A.N."Neal Sr." Webber out of his home, the company began hauling stone with six wheel trucks from a nearby quarry to various road projects. Stone hauling was a major part of the business until the late 70's. His son, A.N."Neal Jr" Webber re-joined the company as a truck driver upon his release from the army in 1958. In 1961, during the construction of the national Interstate system, Neal Jr. bought his first flatbed and went to work hauling rebar out of a local steel mill in Kankakee Illinois. The trucks operated around the clock to deliver steel, which signaled the emergence of the tractor-trailer fleet. In 1968 the first van trailers were added to the fleet in order to haul water heaters out of the AO Smith plant in Kankakee IL, then a major employer in Kankakee County. About that time, the company moved to a small gas station on the outskirts of Chebanse.
