What Is ÅBEN?

ÅBEN started off as a brewery, but today it is so much more than beers. It’s in our genes to experiment, evolve and always excel. We believe in creating experiences that bring people together. \n\nFounded in 2017 by the childhood friends Philip Hulgaard and Johannes Karstoft. With backgrounds in finance and agriculture, the brewery started off as a hobby next to full time positions, but has since turned into a passion and way of life. Today, the brewery is run entirely by Philip. \n\nIn 2019, ÅBEN was named ‘Brewery of The Year’ by Danish Beer Enthusiasts and since then, we have taken over a beer bar in Roskilde, opened the first ÅBEN beer bar in Aarhus and launched a Summer Pop Up in the heart of Copenhagen. The energy it brings us to see people having good times with ÅBEN is our fuel to keep on going.
