What Is Youngquist Brothers?

Youngquist Brothers, Inc. (YBI) has been involved in drilling wells since 1970. Our initial wells were small diameter, shallow irrigation wells with our primary business now involved in the construction of Deep Injection Wells (DIW). DIW's are used for the disposal of treated effluent from large volume Sewer Treatment plants. In South Florida, there exists a geological formation named the Boulder Zone that begins at around 1,000 meters deep. This formation is a "swiss cheese" Zone in which large volumes of water can be pumped into with minimal pressure. We construct a large diameter, deep well allowing the Treatment Plant to dispose of the treated effluent into this formation as opposed to disposing of it into the rivers, estuaries, or the ocean. This is important environmentally as the water is high in nutrient and creates algae blooms in the rivers and estuaries which kills the grass beds. These grass beds are critical to a healthy estuary. We are the only company to construct these wells in the last 12 years due to our ability to limit our customers from drilling liabilities. We have a machine shop that makes all our spare parts, drill bits, drill rods, hydraulic hoses, mud systems, and down-hole cementing. We are the only well driller in Florida that has the ability to do all down-hole monitoring that is required by the Department of Environmental Protection. The Youngquist Brothers recognized the limitation of existing equipment and set about designing and engineering a rig that was specifically built to handle large diameter, deep well construction. Our modern Shop with precision milling machines manufacture all the component parts used, including the Top Head Drive, the Hydraulic Wrench, the Braking System, the entire hydraulic system including hoses and connections, the drill pipe, the mud system. Our team of professionals are continuously improving the efficiency and safety of our systems and constantly looking for ways to improve.
