The National Science Foundation awarded Xylome Corporation $750,000 to develop a “Novel bioprocess for lipid production from industrial byproducts”. The highly successful grant ran through September, 2019 and was succeeded by a commercialization grant of $1.35 million from the Department of Energy to expand the substrate range from soluble sugars to pretreated cellulosic and hemicellulosic fiber.
