What Is Work?

WORK Inc. operates a unique program providing case management to individuals with physical disabilities so that they may live independently in the community. Our highly trained staff are skilled at finding solutions to help each person live a full and enjoyable life. Currently, the clients we serve reside in accessible apartments or their own homes throughout the Greater Boston area. Without the support we offer, these individuals would otherwise live in long-term care facilities, nursing homes or unassisted at home. Our staff have the capacity to provide the following:Pre-discharge assessment of independent living needs Assistance with securing an accessible apartment Rental subsidy assistance and housing advocacy Recruitment and management of personal care attendants Money management Securing assistive devices to facilitate greater independence Food and meal management Medical advocacy and monitoring Facilitation with securing social and recreational opportunities Transportation advocacy and management Additional services and referral to other agencies are provided as part of our commitment to helping people lead productive and satisfying lives. Admission into this program most often comes through referrals from the Massachusetts Rehabilitation Commission (MRC) Independent Living Program or through a private medical provider like the Boston Community Medical Group. The agency also accepts private payments for services.
