Woodberry Forest School is one of the nationâ_Ts premier independent boarding schools. Located on 1200 beautiful acres in Madison County, Virginia, near Charlottesville and Washington, D. C., Woodberry is an all-residential school. We enroll 398 students from 31 states, the District of Columbia, and eight other countries. Our 86 faculty members, almost all of whom live on campus, are men and women with significant academic backgrounds and many years of classroom experience. Since our founding in 1889, Woodberry Forest has become recognized internationally as a leader in the education of boys. Students are carefully selected from an outstanding group of strong applicants. A Woodberry education, centered around a century-old, student-run honor system, is characterized by intellectual thoroughness, moral integrity, reverence for things sacred, and good sportsmanship. We place great emphasis on international experience, offering our students summer programs in China, Costa Rica, England (Oxford), France, Mexico, Nicaragua, Scotland, Spain, and South Africa (spring program in March). An important component of our outdoor-oriented, experiential leadership education program is an on-campus high ropes course. All Woodberry Forest graduates pursue higher education at some of the nation's most selective colleges and universities. Our alumni are leaders in business, public service, and nonprofit endeavors worldwide as well as enthusiastic supporters of the institution. As of July 31, 2008, Woodberry's endowment stood at $238 million.
