Williston Seminary Revenue and Competitors

Williston is presently servicing the educational needs of 455 high school students (grades 9-12) and 86 middle school students (grades 7-8). The school provides jobs for 190 full-time and 60 part-time employees. For the last fiscal year, The Williston Northampton School had a total payroll of approximately $8,884,167. Of that amount, 63% ($5,576,863) went to City of Easthampton residents. For the last fiscal year, Williston purchased nearly $599,000 in goods and services from businesses in the City of Easthampton. Thirty-three Williston day students live in Easthampton. That group received financial aid awards totaling $631,500. By comparison, families that reside on Williston's campus currently have 18 students in the Easthampton school system. Payments were made of approximately $86,950 in water bills and sewer charges. This past spring, the school, as a significant user of the sewer and water systems, was a vocal supporter of the decision to pay for improvements to these systems with an additional assessment based on volume of use. Williston paid an estimated $2,100 in fees and permits for construction. Additionally, individual contractors hired by the school apply for permits from the City on the school's behalf. Williston employees who reside on campus pay excise taxes to the City of Easthampton on approximately 85 vehicles. The Williston Northampton School has made a concerted effort to bring groups to campus that will provide additional activity and commerce within the City of Easthampton. For instance, during the summer months, the school contracts with a number of athletic camps, bringing approximately 2500 campers, coaches, and parents to Easthampton. Families of students, Board of Trustees members, and other visitors to campus attending regular campus events bring money into the local economy through their patronage of local businesses.
