What Is Watson Institute?
Watson Institute is built on the belief that to solve the toughest challenges facing the world, we must equip the next generation with the necessary tools, network, mindset, and courage to unleash a lifetime of impact. Watson Institute is a revolutionary new model of education for next-generation innovators and social entrepreneurs. At Watson, promising young leaders from around the world convene to Colorado and South Florida to launch and advance solutions to the world?s most urgent social, economic, and environmental challenges. Students can either earn their Bachelor?s degree in Social Entrepreneurship for leading real solutions to significant global challenges from Watson Institute at Lynn University, or complete Watson?s 4-month semester incubator in Boulder, Colorado. Watson Institute offers an innovative income sharing option for select candidates through the Pave the Way Fund. The Pave the Way Fund is a new way of financing higher education which ensures our alumni can both afford Watson and graduate without debt. Watson believes entrepreneurial talent is universal, while opportunity is not. Therefore, Watson?s Pave the Way Fund pays for student?s tuition and housing in Boulder and tuition, housing, and 24/7 dining in South Florida. Once students graduate and begin earning a living wage, alumni share an affordable percentage of future earnings for a set number of months through what?s commonly known as an Income Share Agreement. Alumni contributions refuel the Pave the Way Fund which in turn provides the same opportunity to future scholars to attend Watson Institute. Watson Institute has graduated 122 alumni from 44 countries, who have raised over $42.7 million, created over 500 paid jobs, and impacted tens of thousands of people around the world through their ventures. In 2017, two of the Forbes 30 Under 30 social entrepreneurs were Watson alumni.
