What Is Waitrose?

Groceries, Food, Quality, Wine, Online, Service, Corporate Social Responsibility, transport Waitrose has 350 shops in England, Scotland, Wales and the Channel Islands, including 61 convenience branches, and another 27 shops at Welcome Break locations. It combines the convenience of a supermarket with the expertise and service of a specialist shop - dedicated to offering quality food that has been responsibly sourced, combined with high standards of customer service. Waitrose also exports its products to 58 countries worldwide and has eight shops which operate under licence in the Middle East. Waitrose's omnichannel business includes the online grocery service Waitrose.com, as well as specialist online shops including waitrosecellar.com for wine and waitrosekitchen.com for cookware, utensils and kithchen gadgets. The first 10 Waitrose shops joined the John Lewis Partnership in 1937; today there are over 300, including convenience branches, as well as shops at Welcome Break service stations, Waitrose.com online and our own farm, the Leckford Estate in Hampshire. As a co-owned Partnership, everyone who works for Waitrose owns the business and the notion of partnership is also extended to farmers and growers. At the heart of the supply chain are its producer groups that operate across livestock, milk, farmed fish, fruit and vegetable categories. Waitrose believes in championing British produce, treading lightly on the environment, supporting responsible sourcing and treating people fairly. Waitrose shops have an average selling area of 20,000sq ft. Our little Waitrose (convenience) branches range from 3,000 to 7,000sq ft. In addition to these our seven larger Food & Home shops offer a selection of John Lewis homewares, furnishings, gifts and fashion accessories.
