What Is WVP Health Authority?

We are leaders and practitioners of innovative, sustainable, health care. WVP Health Authority (formerly known as Mid Valley Independent Physicians Association) is a not-for-profit taxable mutual benefit organization that works to ensure access, advocacy, and innovation in health care. Comprised of over 500 physician members and a network including over 1,000 health care practitioners, WVP organizations continue to develop programs and partnerships to help our communities, especially those most vulnerable, maintain their access to quality healthcare. MISSION: The founding mission of WVP Health Authority is to preserve and promote the wise use of health resources, enhance the ability of physicians to act as patient’s advocates, and assure a sound and ethical business environment that promotes flexibility and the pursuit of appropriate opportunities. HISTORY: Beginning as provider panel for Capitol Health Care in 1976, the organization evolved into Mid Valley Independent Physicians Association (MVIPA) in 1991. A decade of successful population-based, cost-effective health care delivery led to a community based OHP health plan in 2001. A similar partnership in 2005 yielded a Medicare Advantage special needs plan. This led to more Medicare Advantage plans beginning 2008. In 2009 Liberty Street Clinic was created to serve unmet needs. Likewise WVP Home Health and MVP Medical Group were formed in 2010 - all founded in and for our communities. Thak you!
