Flemington Racecourse is the best-known metropolitan racecourse in Australia, with races run here every year since 1840. With its superb facilities, Flemington hosts 23 racemeetings every year, including the world-renown Melbourne Cup Carnival. It is also the home of Australia's premier racing club, the Victoria Racing Club. The Victoria Racing Club was established in 1864, when it commenced the management of Flemington Racecourse. Governed by a Board of Directors, elected by Members of the Club, the VRC has approximately 30,000 Members, making it the largest Member-based racing club in the world. Currently, the Club employs over 200 permanent staff year round, additional support roles that are appointed on a contract basis for the lead up to and during the Melbourne Cup Carnival and our sizeable event-based workforce contingent that we require, in order to run 23 race meetings per season. *** Were you looking to work with us Well, let us give you the rundown of our departments and roles here at the VRC: Chairman & Chief Executive's Office provides high-level support to the Chairman, Directors and Chief Executive in delivering the strategic objectives of the Club . The Racing team is responsible for the racing and the surface upon which racing is conducted. Commercial Operations focuses on leveraging and growing our commercial return across key revenue segments. The Finance & Information Technology departments focus is on managing cash flows, financial reporting, meeting statutory obligations and ensuring the smooth operation of all IT functionality Flemington Racecourse Operations consists of a team dedicated to improving Flemington for its key customers and stakeholders both on-course, through their experience, and off-course.
