VESTRA was founded by six employee/owners in 1988 who previously had worked for a large timber management firm in Northern California implementing one of the first GIS systems in the state. Interested in applying this then relatively new and exciting technology to other areas, they founded VESTRA and began assisting clients by providing quality GIS services. The company, one of the first firms in the United States dedicated to providing GIS solutions, grew rapidly due to the owners' reputation for excellence, customer service, and finding innovative technical solutions to problems. After founding VESTRA, the owners felt a key decision would be selecting a GIS software firm that shared their strong commitment to client service. They chose to become one of the first authorized business partners in California with ESRI. Over the years, VESTRA found an increasing need to provide additional services to its clients in the areas of environmental sciences, engineering, and surveying. In response to this need, the company progressively expanded, and VESTRA founded their Environmental Services Division. The company brought on board a team of exceptionally qualified individuals in this field, including geologists, biologists, environmental scientists, engineers and registered environmental assessors. Our client base has grown rapidly, with a majority of clients becoming repeat clients due to our reputation for adherence to the highest technical standards, excellent documentation, rapid project turnaround times, and emphasis on client service.
