It is part of the University of the Pacific. Originally founded in 1924, the school merged with and became part of the University of the Pacific in 1966. The university also runs a Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry in San Francisco, California. The dean of McGeorge School of Law is Francis J. Mootz III. McGeorge offers degree programs leading to the award of the JD (Juris Doctor), the MSL (Master of Science in Law), the MPA (Master of Public Administration), the MPP (Master of Public Policy), the LLM (Master of Laws) and the JSD (Doctor of Juridical Science) degrees. McGeorge offers both a three-year full-time program and four-year part-time program. As an ABA approved law school, McGeorge graduates are eligible to sit for the bar examination in any American jurisdiction.
