What Is TransMed Systems?
TransMed Systems mission is to develop analytical tools that enable health care researchers and clinicians to mine clinical and molecular data in order to improve patient outcomes. Unlock the power of your data to improve patient outcomes The application of information technology to medicineparticularly with respect to patient carehas been slow to develop but is now beginning to get real traction. In the last few years, the electronic medical record (EMR) has emerged as a critical tool for patient management, primarily to make patient care more efficient, to reduce misinterpretation and miscommunication, and to reduce errors. But the secondary use of data (from EMRs and other sources) also represents a powerful new opportunity for doctors and scientists engaged in clinical research as well as clinicians directly involved with patient care. A number of forward-thinking healthcare organizations have recognized that their transactional data, including EMR data, can help them identify and develop new diagnostic and treatment strategies. This data has enormous value beyond the care and management of an individual patient: It can be used, for example, for research-based hypothesis generation and clinical studies validation. In addition, the secondary use of data can be used to craft personalized medicine: therapeutic regimens that are uniquely tailored to a specific individual. At TransMed Systems, we are actively working with the clinicians and researchers in these healthcare organizations to develop and deliver software tools that facilitate the analysis and application of transactional data, including EMR data. Our efforts are highly focused on translational research'research that has near-term application and leads to new clinical practices and, ultimately, to improved outcomes. The goal, for our customers and for TransMed Systems, is to accelerate the process of discovery and to improve the efficiency of turning discovery into clinical practice.
