Fort Mill is one of the fastest growing communities in South Carolina. Residents of the town enjoy a high quality of life and a strong sense of community. The Fort Mill Schools are among the best in the state and perform well above national standards. The town is also home to a number of thriving businesses and corporate offices. Our close proximity to the Charlotte metropolitan area provides numerous educational, recreational and employment opportunities. The town is known for its abundance of green space, particularly the seven parks in town and the Anne Springs Close Greenway. The town was nationally recognized twice in 2012. Businessweek named the town the Best Place in South Carolina to Raise Kids and Family Circle included the town as one of the Ten Best Towns for Families in the nation. Each year during the first full weekend of May the Town hosts the South Carolina Strawberry Festival, which draws over 50,000 people to the area annually. The Town of Fort Mill is conveniently located along the I-77 corridor in the northernmost part of South Carolina just south of the state line shared with North Carolina. The town's closest neighbors are Rock Hill, SC, to the south and Charlotte, NC, to the north. Approximately 9,400 people live inside the Town's corporate limits with a total of nearly 35,000 people residing within the entire Township.
