What Is Timberline?
Timberline is operated by RLK and Company under a special use permit from the United States Forest Service. RLK and Company is a family owned business started by Richard Kohnstamm in 1955. The Company has continually operated Timberline since then, making their permit one of the longest held special use permits in the history of the Forest Service. Today, Richard Kohnstamm serves as Chairman of the Company, while his son Jeff is President of the Company and Area Operator of the entire property. Jeff leads a 6 person management team that shares oversight and responsibilities of the area's various concerns and operations and provides annual employment for roughly 475 people.
