What Is The Washington Center?

The Washington Center (TWC) is the largest independent, nonprofit provider of experiential education programs in the United States. With its academic internship programs and seminars, TWC brings together exceptional and dedicated college students and civic, governmental and business leaders, hundreds of colleges and universities, scores of public and private employers, and more than 50,000 alumni. Founded in 1975, today TWC is a unique educational center based on a fully integrated mix of professional experience, academic coursework and real-life challenges.\n\nThe Washington Center offers two types of programs:\n\nInternships\nSemester and Summer term integrated academic and work experiences in government, corporations and nonprofit organizations. Each internship program is tailored to provide meaningful work experiences that will provide participants with the skills needed after college. Most internships are in Washington, D.C., where students take academic courses and attend special programming.\n\nAcademic Seminars\nParticipants have the chance to delve into the key issues of our time and interact with the experts behind them. These one- to two-week programs give participants an insider’s view of current events and access to important organizations that takes them to the places and puts them in front of the people they've learned about in their classrooms.
