What Is The Spaceship Company?

In 2005 at EAA Airventure Oshkosh, Sir Richard Branson and Burt Rutan announced their signing of an agreement to form The Spaceship Company – a new aerospace production company to build a fleet of commercial sub-orbital spaceships and carrier aircraft. Since then we’ve been rather busy. With Virgin Galactic, we engaged Scaled Composites to develop a new and innovative spaceflight system to Virgin Galactic’s specifications. We then focused on building our team, operations, supply chain and capabilities at Mojave Air & Space Port. We are now well into manufacturing the second SpaceShipTwo and second WhiteKnightTwo. TSC’s operations now stretch over 130,000 square feet in three separate facilities and our team has grown to over 145 individuals – and we’re looking for more talented people to join this historic journey. In October 2012, Virgin Galactic announced that it had acquired full ownership of The Spaceship Company. This acquisition marked the successful completion of a long-term strategy and signifies the end of the first phase of TSC’s development.
