What Is The Skinny?

From 2005's group of 10 volunteers with a passion to promote their local scene, The Skinny has grown to be the largest entertainment and listings magazine in Scotland. With over 160,000 readers in print, and more than 125,000 unique monthly users online, our vision is to be the best source for local and emerging talent across Music, Film, Comedy, Art, Theatre, Books, Food & Drink, Clubs & more. The magazine, and our annual Student Handbook, cover three main sites in Edinburgh, Glasgow and Dundee . Since 2015, we have also produced Fest magazine and its website, the essential guide to the Edinburgh festivals. Other highlights include partnerships with cultural events like Liverpool Biennial, Glasgow Film Festival and Parklife. Our projects include the Unbound programme, produced by The Skinny to announce Edinburgh International Book Festival's late night event series; The Skinny Showcase, a 3-year programme of Edinburgh Art Festival exhibitions featuring Scotland's recent fine art graduates; and The Skinny and GSFF Short Film Competition, offering prizes to micro-budget filmmakers to create new work. The Skinny offers trusted independent cultural journalism across all platforms, with continued investment in reaching a growing digital audience. You can enjoy the work of our full-time team and up to 350 contributors in print, online, and on mobile. The Skinny website is building a larger audience with new and relaunched sections including a new What's On guide to six key cities, and a relaunched Fest magazine website providing the best online guide to Edinburgh's festivals. We also offer an expanding range of options for advertisers. Working with brands like American Apparel, Swatch, DF Concerts and Airbnb, The Skinny provides a platform to target a culturally diverse and engaged audience across print and online.
