The Northwest School Revenue and Competitors

The Northwest School was founded in 1980 by three teachers who understood that a great school begins with an excellent faculty. Teachers at The Northwest School are passionate about their subjects. Students "catch" this excitement because teachers see education as an active enterprise to share. The sense of trust this creates allows students to take the intellectual risks necessary for real learning. Our teachers develop their own curricula in teams. Their strong collegiality adds to the mutual respect that pervades the school. Teams of Humanities faculty share lectures, modeling different styles and contrasting points of view. Cooperation across disciplines means that a Biology teacher presents Darwin to a 19th century Humanities class; a Photography teacher experiments with Chemistry students on a photochemistry project in the desert; a Humanities teacher discusses Voltaire's Candide with a French class - in French. Our teachers are renaissance men and women, as passionate about outside interests as they are about their subjects, and they bring that intensity to school. All art teachers are practicing professional artists. Many of our teachers were born in other countries, adding to the international perspective of the school.
