What Is The Disability Trust?

The Disability Trust is committed to providing highly professional care and services as well as advocacy for people with disabilities and their families. Based in regional NSW with our head office in Wollongong, The Disability Trust provides a wide range of services to residents from the Central Coast in the north to the Victorian border. The Disability Trust has its roots firmly in the community, having been established in 1974 to help children with disabilities and their families in the Illawarra. In recent years we have grown substantially, and now have more than 600 permanent and casual staff providing care to around 3000 clients. As we have grown we have maintained an over-riding commitment to quality care and support tailored to the needs of each individual, reflected in the results of a 2010 survey of clients and parents/carers where 90% of respondents rated our service excellent or good. As our name implies, trust is central to our operations. People with disabilities and their families trust us to give them the highest possible levels of care and advocacy; our staff trust us to provide the training and support they need in their rewarding but often challenging work; and government agencies trust us to deliver best practice standards of client care.
