What Is The Career Index - developers of SARA?
The Career Index (TCI), by way of its flagship product, SARA, is applying AI in human services agencies to increase client engagement, improve success rates and build better communities. TCI was founded in 2010 on the idea of providing vocational rehabilitation agencies with a streamlined occupational information system developed specifically for the benefit of people with disabilities. In 2011, founder KD Nyegaard began the development of SARA based upon the idea that advances in technology and the proliferation of cell phones would make it possible to create an intelligent two-way communication system that would alleviate the huge bottleneck of data entry and documentation. After four years of intensive development and field tests, SARA was released officially in May of 2015 and is now TCI’s flagship product. We are a partner of WINTAC (Workforce Innovation Technical Assistance Center – wintac.org) along with San Diego State University, George Washington University, University of Arkansas, Syracuse University, the Council of State Vocational Rehabilitation Administrators. Funded by the Rehabilitation Services Agency (RSA), our mission is to pilot solutions to the WIOA (Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act) requirements for common reporting and data integration. Eleven states applied for SARA pilot status, with Kentucky, Nevada, and Alaska as the finalists. As of July 2018 2017, SARA has been deployed in 40 installations in ten states. Currently, SARA has been trained to support WIOA Adult and Youth, TANF, Adult Education, Wagner/Peyser, Vocational Rehab, Veterans, TAA and DEI (Ticket to Work) programs as well as homeless shelters, family support, health care and various non-profit programs.
