What Is The Canadian Council for Public-Private Partnerships?
Public-private partnerships, or P3s, are partnerships between the government and the private sector to build public infrastructure like roads, hospitals or schools as well as deliver services. P3s aren’t new. For 20 years P3s have leveraged private sector innovation, efficiency and capital to meet basic public needs while maintaining government ownership and control. In addition to generating jobs and stimulating the economy, they deliver superior value for money compared to conventional projects. They also allow for effective risk transfer – ensuring on time, on budget performance – and provide better asset protection and maintenance, thereby reducing overall project lifecycle costs. The Canadian Council for Public-Private Partnerships (CCPPP) represents and connects some 400 members from public and private sectors, making it the largest network of P3 experts in Canada. The Council, by virtue of its national network of members, is Canada’s greatest knowledge-base on the P3 sector. The Council is actively fostering understanding within all levels of government of the P3 model as an effective tool for addressing Canada’s infrastructure deficit and strengthening the economy through job creation, and demonstrable contributions to GDP.
