Thayer Academy Summer Programs is dedicated to making summer fun, relaxed and socially exciting for children. The philosophy of our program is to provide children with the opportunity to develop in an atmosphere of respect, trust and friendship. One of the most valuable gifts we can give a child is guidance toward gaining a sense of self-confidence and pride. We strive for this by presenting an environment that encourages friendships and an affirmation of individual worth. We consider our programs to be non-competitive, but this does not mean that we ignore or eliminate all competition in our activities. We minimize it, so we can help children view themselves and others as unique and valuable individuals. We provide experiences which encourage children to be themselves in their relationships with both peers and adults. The creation of such friendships is an important goal of our summer program.
