What Is Temple Update?
Temple Update, established in 1988, is a weekly, 30-minute news program produced by a staff of student volunteers and the TV News Production Practicum class (MSP/JRN 4596). The program covers news, events and personalities from campus and the greater Temple community. Temple Update was the winner of the NATAS Mid-Atlantic Emmy award for Outstanding Achievement, College/University Student Production-Newscast in 2011, 2016 and 2018, and was nominated for the award in 2012, 2013 and 2017. It was also the winner of the 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2018 MSP Award for Best Studio/On-Location Production. This site, templeupdate.com, also won the best website category in the 2016 MSP Awards. Under the Temple Update umbrella also include the Spanish newscast, Lo Ultimo, and the 90 second daily news brief shows, Update Now and Update Ahora.
