Studentersamfundet i Trondhjem Revenue and Competitors

The Student Society in Trondheim is an organization for students in Trondheim, and is owned and run by its members, who number close to 9000. In 1927, the founders of the Student Society meant for it to be the natural hub for students in Trondheim, and it continues to be. The characteristic red, round house houses concerts, cultural events, numerous bars, a cafe, a pub and a restaurant. The famed Society Meetings, which usually take place every Saturday, are an arena for political debates and other more or less intellectual endeavours. The Society also contains three of Trondheims best concert venues. In addition to this, Norways largest cultural festival, UKA, as well as the worlds largest thematic student festival, ISFiT, grow out of the red walls of the Society every second year. The student medias in Trondheim, Under Dusken, Student-TV and Studentradion, also base most of their activities at the Society. The Society Meeting is the highest legislative assembly at the Student Society, and the members present at the meetings elect the Society President, the members of the Financial Board and the Council. The politically elected President chooses his/her Board, which amongst else shapes the political profile of the Society. The Council makes sure all activities at the Society are in correspondence with national as well as internals laws and regulations. The Society has its own manager, financial manager, janitor and custodial staff. Most of the activities at the Student Society are dependent on the organizations more than one thousand two hundred volunteers. The volunteers are organized in groups (?gjenger??) such as the Café group (KiSS), Student-TV, the Cultural Committee, etc. Students that want to volunteer apply directly to each group for recruitment.
