What Is Stone Bridge Iron and Steel?

Ronald Carmer founded Stone Bridge Iron & Steel in 1973. The company, located in just one barn at its inception, immediately began reinvesting all profits in used equipment. As the fledgling outfit with an eye for expansion and improvement began to grow, Mr. Carmer's sons came aboard”"Brian Carmer graduated college and joined the family business in 1979 and his younger brother, Britt Carmer, joined him in 1982. In 1981, only eight years after it began, Stone Bridge began to expand from the barn and the first plant expansion brought the structural shop building. At 4,000 square feet, the structural shop building was only the beginning of what would be a series of expansions. By 1985 another 4,000 square feet had been added and Stone Bridge saw sales top 2 million dollars and their workforce grow to 18. By the mid 90's Stone Bridge had undergone its fourth plant expansion and began investing heavily in computerized production equipment. A computerized beam punching system, computerized angle line and a 52" computerized, cut-to-length saw line were installed in the structural bay. During the same time period an 8,000 Sq. Ft., climate controlled, paint shop facility was added along with a miscellaneous bay. The start of 21st Century brought growth in a different area”"personnel. While Stone Bridge was constructing a new yard 80'x330' twin 10-ton bridge crane way to feed material to the saw and drill, the company committed itself to a substantial investment in their biggest asset: their employees. Beginning with the addition of a new Vice President in 2000, Stone Bridge continues to add estimators, project managers and detailers in a concerted effort to build their intellectual capital. In its continued commitment to modernize management systems and equipment, Stone Bridge has deployed a number of 32-bit software application tools. From accounting and estimating to detailing and project management, only the most modern tools available to the industry are at work. Expertise and commitment to technological innovation has allowed Stone Bridge Iron & Steel to specialize in highly complex, difficult and extremely fast-track construction projects. No project is too small”"from walk-in customers to multi-story buildings, Stone Bridge Iron & Steel is ready to exceed expectations. More than 85% of Stone Bridges' business is repeat business from satisfied customers. Dedication to their craft and an outstanding record of exceeding expectations has fueled remarkable growth for Stone Bridge. From a small barn in 1973 the company has achieved a national reach. Their service area now covers all of New York, New England and beyond. Stone Bridge now employs more than 60 people and has annual sales exceeding 15 million dollars per year.
