What Is Stepping Out?
No matter what kind of childhood, economical level, or present condition, people have an intuitive nature to strive for a better life. Jesus, saw that people were ignorant of spiritual matters and needed a teacher and compassionate instruction. Stepping Out believes that there are many ways we can express compassion, first by attending to the pressing physical and spiritual needs, but then by giving equal importance to educate and equip people with the emotional skills to triumph over inexperience, immaturity, and inability to control their lives. Stepping Out educates individuals on how to be better role models for the younger generations and more productive citizens in the community. Stepping Out, Inc. is a faith-based 501 C 3 organization. We offer a specialized curriculum, of life-skills education and emotional intelligence training to adults in the Lakeway area. Stepping Out provides prevention education through life skill courses that teach and motivate positive behavior change to anyone looking for an opportunity to improve themselves. Our curriculum is comprised of ten (10) specifically chosen courses that complement each other because they intertwine and reinforce skills being taught. Each course helps to develop a pattern of positive behavior by teaching participants the critical role attitude plays in their life as well as proven techniques for shifting attitude (negative to positive) which, in turn, shifts behavior. Our goal is for each participant to complete the program with the ability to: 1. Express their needs and feelings appropriately 2. Demonstrate active listening and communication skills 3. Practice critical decision making and problem solving 4. Have greater self-esteem and hope for the future 5. Be accountable for their behavior.
