Stemilt Growers, Inc., headquartered in Wenatchee, Wash., is a family-owned tree fruit grower-packer-shipper. As one of the leaders in U.S. tree fruit, we ship nearly 12 percent of Washington's apples each year and 14 percent of the pears from the Northwest. Stemilt is also the nation's leading sweet-cherry shipper, supplying 25 percent of the sweet cherries grown in Washington. Tom Mathison established Stemilt Growers in 1964 with help from a small group of neighbor growers living near him on Stemilt Hill (which overlooks the town of Wenatchee, WA). In order to improve the quality of fruit reaching the marketplace, Tom built a packing house right on Stemilt Hill so he could have better control over the packing process. Today, Stemilt is still solely owned by the Mathison family, and delivering the best-quality product continues to be at the forefront of what we do. Tom's children and grandchildren are Stemilt's principle officers, and Tom's grandson West Mathison serves as Stemilt's president and interim Chairman of the Board. The family carries on the traditions that Tom began -- operating efficiently and effectively in order to deliver the best eating experience to consumers with the least impact on the environment.
