What Is State of Alaska DHSS Division of Public Health?

The Division of Public Health (DPH) is a division of the State of Alaska Department of Health and Social Services (DHSS). DPH has around 425 employees and a budget of approximately $120 million, including federal receipts. The majority of our employees are based in Anchorage or Juneau, however we have local public health centers throughout the state to meet public health needs. Our programs are within the public health specialty areas of Chronic Disease Prevention and Health Promotion, Epidemiology, Public Health Nursing, Rural and Community Health Systems, Women’s Children’s and Family Health, as well as Health Analytics and Vital Records, the State Laboratories and the State Medical Examiner. At the Division of Public Health we have a mission to serve all Alaskans.
