What Is Stafford County Public Schools Department of Human Resources?

Stafford County Public Schools (SCPS) is located in northern Virginia, nestled between Washington, D.C. and Richmond, VA right off the I-95 corridor. SCPS serves over 27,000 students in 17 elementary schools, 8 middle schools, and 5 high schools, all of which are fully state accredited. Seeking to provide productive, life-long learners, SCPS provides a comprehensive program of studies which offers a variety of opportunities from preschool to college coursework. Strong academic and career/technical curricula ensure student preparedness for continuing education and/or the workforce. These core curricula are enhanced through programs such as: International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme, Commonwealth Governor's School, Gifted/Talented Education (FOCUS), Head Start, Alternative Education, Stafford Academy for Technology (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) and Advanced Programs for Excellence (APPX). A rich complement of fine and performing arts, as well as health and physical education, support the total curriculum. Lending added support to each school's staff are counselors, registered nurses, psychologists, speech/occupational/physical therapists, technology resources teachers, and paraprofessionals. SCPS employs over 3,600 professionals and offers outstanding benefits, including but not limited to, health insurance, dental insurance, wellness programs, life insurance, flexible spending accounts, investment opportunities, credit union membership, and leave programs. SCPS is dedicated to helping new teaching professionals achieve success. As an important component of our support program, each beginning teacher is assigned a Mentor who is trained to help with concerns common to new educators. Experienced educators who are new to SCPS are assigned a Colleague. A Coordinator is provided to facilitate the Colleague and Mentor Program at each school site.
