Specialized is proud to present our 2001 women's products. We have designed bikes, shoes, helmets, gloves, and saddles for the enthusiast female cyclist. From talking with thousands of women through focus groups, event rides, the Specialized Cycling Summits, and women at Specialized, we believe we are offering a line of women's products that address the specific needs of female cyclists and delivers the performance that an enthusiast demands. Saddles Historically, women's saddles were designed with a short nose and a significantly wider at back. When we researched the rationale behind this, we could not find a logical reason. What we know is that women's sit bones are not significantly wider than men's, and that the nose of the saddle is important for control as well as maximizing power. Therefore, we have developed a line of women's saddles that enhance comfort, control, and performance. Shoes Many manufacturers claim that their shoe is designed for women, when in fact, they use a smaller scale men's last. It was important for us to deliver an authentic performance women's shoe. So, we invested the time and resources necessary to develop a true women's last. The result is a performance shoe that offers a fantastic women's fit. Helmets The shape of people's heads vary. This is one area of the human body that is not gender specific. We offer 3 sizes to fit the majority of the population of both men and women. For 2001, we have designed two feminine graphics: a fun and whimsical floral design for the Queen Cobra, and a subtle somewhat sophisticated scrolling graphic that gently fades from pearl white to celery in the Allez. Gloves Tired of swimming around in men's sized gloves? Our women's designed gloves are sized to fit the smaller width and length of women's hands.
