Sonco Fence was founded in 1976, in Bladensburg, MD (just outside of Washington, DC) by Sonny Long. We began as a distribution company supplying fence contractors in the metropolitan area. We quickly captured a large market share and began to expand, opening branches in Norfolk and Richmond Virginia, and Philadelphia PA. In the early 1980s we expanded our production capabilities and started weaving our own chain link, now an industry standard for smoothness and quality. We also began GBW (Galvanized Before Weaving), a process of extruding plastic coating over wire for weaving into chain link fabric. Presently, we have millions of dollars in production equipment and can produce over 10 MILLION FEET of chain link fabric per annum. We are one of the largest privately owned U.S. manufacturers in the country. We export a large volume of specification material to countries worldwide.
