As a 182-bed acute care community hospital located in the heart of Slidell, La., we provide access to the latest treatments and technology and expert physicians: 51 percent of all cancer procedures in the region are performed by our Cancer Services program. SMH broke ground on a new comprehensive cancer center in August 2009. We're the only hospital on the Northshore to offer cancer patients the temporary high-dose rate radiation treatment, with the newly installed Varian brachytherapy system. The most powerful Image Guided Radiation technology in the world is available in our Radiation Center. Our orthopedic specialists are among only a handful in the region to offer anterior hipreplacement surgery using a new state-of-the-art hanaTMHip and Knee Arthroplasty Table, one of just 100 in use across the country.
