Silmar Electronics was established in 1963 by Jorge M. Smith, an Electronic engineer, who in 1960 immigrated to Miami from Cuba. Originally, Silmar designed and manufactured eavesdropping devices. With the invasion of privacy laws enacted in 1968, Silmar overnight changed its focus from a manufacturing concern to one of wholesale distribution and installation of low voltage equipment. In 1974, Silmar eliminated its installation division and dedicated itself exclusively to the wholesale distribution of low voltage equipment. Today, Silmar Electronics is one of the largest independent distributors of Security, Fire, CCTV, Access Control, Commercial & Residential Sound Systems and Home distribution systems. Silmar has convenient locations throughout Florida (Miami, Ft. Lauderdale, West Palm Beach, Jacksonville, Clearwater/Tampa, Sarasota, and Ft. Myers) and Greenville, South Carolina. In addition to our local distribution centers, Silmar offers all of our low voltage products to Latin America through our International Sales division located in Miami. We offer to you full system support and solutions, technical and product training, huge inventories from industry leading manufacturers, and more - All from unbiased professionals committed to customer service and your complete satisfaction.
