Sherburne County is one of the fastest-growing counties in the State of Minnesota with a population of more than 93,000. State demographers expect that the county’s population will grow by 73% between 2010 and 2035 and that the labor force is projected to grow by 63%. Sherburne County sits between two of the fastest-growing population centers in the state, the Minneapolis-St. Paul metro area and St. Cloud. Excellent commuter rail and bus service has contributed to rapid residential growth in Sherburne County. The county’s 431 square miles are a blend of urban and rural, small towns and industrial centers, tied together by the Mississippi River and surrounded by open areas ideal for recreation. Sherburne County employs more than 600 people in a variety of positions. Our future includes a $60 million addition to, and renovation of, the Government Center in Elk River.
