It is the nation's #1 mattress supplier to hotels and motels; its Perfect Sleeper mattress line, which it has been selling since the 1930s, is the best-selling premium mattress in the US. Serta's top-of-the-line mattress collection is sold under the Perfect Night name. Founded in 1931 by 13 mattress makers who licensed the Serta name, the company is now owned by eight independent licensees; each licensee has separate marketing, manufacturing, and sales operations. The group has 26 factories in the US, four in Canada, and another 27 throughout Asia, Europe, the Middle East, and South America.
