Scot Industries was founded by two brothers, Tom and Harvey Wilmeth. Success finally came after Scot Industries entered the honing business in 1958. Tom began to redesign and rebuild the existing honing tools and machinery to obtain higher quality, increased reliability, and lower costs. Since then, the company has continued to evolve. Tom Wilmeth is still active. Harvey passed away in 2007. Steven Wilmeth, Tom's son, has managed the company with continuous expansion and increased capability for the last thirty years. Scot Industries develops, designs, and builds most of its own processes, tooling and machinery. The Scot materials laboratory also develops materials to solve particular problems. This way Scot has unique products and often lower costs than others. Scot offers tubing, bars, honing, grinding, straightening, deep hole boring, cutoff, machining, heat-treating, chrome plating, expanding, and metallurgical services. These processes are all done within Scot plants on Scot machinery. Scot is determined to meet today's needs and the future needs of the marketplace with innovation, quality products, service, and competitive prices.
