What Is SESC?

The Mission of the Southeast Soccer is to develop the youth soccer player through a developmental soccer philosophy. The philosophy of positive teaching by role-models provides a nurturing environment for each player to gain self-confidence, self-motivation and self-discipline. All players are challenged and supported by the curriculum while forming friendships with the staff and fellow players. Southeast Soccer Club (SESC) is centered in the Southeast neighborhoods of Portland, Oregon and we are one of the largest soccer clubs in the city. SESC serves over 1100 players each year, fielding over 50 teams playing from U6 through U14. Our teams play recreational, development and competitive soccer at all levels. Many of our players have gone on to play in high school, for high-level competitive teams and clubs, and some have been on teams that won the Oregon State Cup. Regardless of their level of play, if the kids have fun and learn the great game of soccer, we have done well. We hope that all who have worn an SESC jersey have gone on to adulthood with a lifelong passion for the game and the values that our club fosters. SESC's mission is simple - we exist to facilitate children playing soccer. We always keep that in mind as we develop programs and make decisions for club play. We are a 501(c)3 corporation, and are always happy to accept donations or sponsorships. SESC is probably one of only clubs in the league that does not impose fundraising on their players and families. We made a commitment to all of our families not to add to the ongoing school funding, scouting, etc., or make requests with sales of any merchandise. We believe this to be a responsible choice and know how much it is apreciated. However, we know there are opportunities available that wouldn't impose family hardship and we need to actively pursue this venue. If you would consider a donation to the season of play, please note that on your registration material and submit payment with your registration. Likewise, if you are a family with kids that want to play but the costs are a hurdle we do have a limited amount of funds for scholarships, please contact us for more details. SESC Recreational teams from U8 to U14 play in the Fall & Spring leagues organized by PYSA (Portland Youth Soccer Association). Development and Competitive teams from U9 to U14 play in the Fall & Spring leagues organized by OYSA (Oregon Youth Soccer Association), as well as Summer tournaments and optional Winter futsal. SESC also hosts a U6 / U7 Mighty Mites program which provides teams for Kindergartners and first graders. A few practices, a few games, lots of fun and lots of exercise. In the Fall the Mighty Mites season begins with a Jamboree, an event no player or parent should miss. Southeast Soccer Club is affiliated with Portland Youth Soccer Association (PYSA), Oregon Youth Soccer Association (OYSA), United States Youth Soccer Association (USYSA) and United States Soccer Federation (USSF).
