What Is Roots and Wings?
Beverton Preschool, Roots & Wings Early Years Education and Care, and Roots and Wings Kindergarten are three independent Early Years services located in the peninsula of Donabate,County Dublin and run by Nickola Cullen.\n\nAlthough the buildings are in essence separate structures, all three services fall under the one umbrella known as Muintir Childcare limited. We began operating in January 2002 with the opening of Beverton Preschool – a small home-based preschool catering for 20 children. Over the preceding years Nickola undertook a myriad of professional development opportunities accumulating in a degree in Early Years and then an Honours Degree in Leadership and Mentoring in Early Years. This academia along with Nickola’s\nevidence-based practice and craft knowledge, personal values and beliefs defined the pedagogy and philosophy that has resulted in Beverton Preschool being recognized as an exemplary centre of excellence.\n\nIn 2017, Beverton preschool underwent an expansion and saw the opening of its sister service Roots & Wings. Our quest for exemplary practice has without doubt aided us in building an approach, one of continual and never-ending improvements taken from the Kaizen philosophy. This quest for exemplary practice has resulted in both our services being awarded level 4 in the Siolta programme (2022), 4 grades of Excellent in our last DES inspections, fully\ncompliant Tusla inspections and numerous awards from Early Childhood Ireland including the national overall winner on 4 occasions.\nIn 2021 we had the opportunity to add our third service Roots and Wings Kindergarten and Afterschool to our company bringing our team to 24 and catering for just over 120 families from the local community.\n\nOur Team here across our now three services in Donabate are of paramount importance to us and we firmly believe that having a strong, dedicated team with commonly aligned goals are the makings of our successful, high quality Early Years Education Services.
