Robert's Coffee was founded in 1987 with a roasting plant and a coffee shop in Wanha Satama, a former warehouse at Katajanokka in Helsinki. Right from the beginning, Robert offered his customers a wealth of fresh roasted blends, roasts and grinds. The business idea was simple, to offer customers the best and freshest coffee, served in a warm atmosphere and with a twinkle in the eye. Coffee has been the passion in my family since 1760, when my great, great grandfather and the mayor of Helsinki Anders Byström, founded one of the first cafés in Helsinki, says Robert. But the story does not end there. After travelling across the United states and finding coffee shops on every street corner in the cities, Robert decided to introduce the idea of specialist coffee shops in Finland and Sweden as well. Robert believed that people were prepared to pay a little more for really good coffee and tea. A specialist coffee shop was, and still is, a place with coffee lists, lots of choices, and expert service. Robert wanted to give coffee a new positioning it so richly deserved - a pleasure that was dark, strong, spicy, and above all - fresh. Gourmet coffee differs from ordinary coffee on two accounts: its freshness and the quality of the green beans. Robert's Coffee is a Finnish-family run business.
