What Is Riverwest Food Pantry (A Community of Generosity)?

Recognizing that everyone has gifts to share, Riverwest Food Pantry is a community food center that engages volunteers and community residents to end hunger, isolation, and poverty. Our innovative programs nourish health, belonging, and economic opportunity. We serve 13,000 shoppers annually including children, elderly and disabled persons living on fixed incomes, unemployed individuals with barriers to steady employment, and individuals in crisis experiencing homelessness, mental illness, and addiction. The families we serve have an average income below $1,300 per month. Our work is structured by three mission pillars: NOURISHMENT – Nourishing food security and wellness BELONGING – Fostering kinship & community engagement PROSPERITY – Creating stability & economic opportunity We are launching a Riverwest Community Food Center that helps residents build health, belonging, and opportunity in low-income communities through the power of food. This new model will change the way hunger is addressed in Milwaukee and will enable our organization to deepen its impact on hunger and poverty in the Riverwest, Harambee and surrounding Milwaukee communities. Developed in collaboration with a growing network of innovative hunger organizations across Canada and the United States, our model addresses the whole wellness of a community by using food as an entry point for change. Neighborhood hunger can be the start to building community, improving nutritional health, and reducing poverty. HOW TO GET INVOLVED? Volunteers- We are always looking for individuals and groups of volunteers to join us. (All operations currently at our St. Casimir 924 E. Clarke St. MIlwaukee) Tuesday distribution: 2:30-6 pm Friday sort: 8:30-11 am Saturday distribution: 7-11am Please email volunteer@riverwestfoodpantry.org APPLY FOR MISSION INTERNSHIP PROGRAM (21-26 yrs old) https://www.riverwestfoodpantry.org/mission-house DONATE NOW https://app.mobilecause.com/form/-Pc_FQ?vid=8l31p
